The Hub

It's an e-book written on-line by The Hub Community. With over 300 members of The Hub wouldn't it be great if we could contribute just one page each to a book in which we could all share each others' ideas ?

So here's the proposal: Do you have any good ideas (only one per Hub member) for Training Exercises that you would be happy to share with the Hubbites that would eventually become an e-book ? Or what about just a one page essay on some topic related to creativity ?

At this stage I'd just like to hear back from anyone who would be interested in contributing, and if there's sufficient interest I will undertake to collect and coordinate the contributions and develop them into a nicely presented e-book.

If there's sufficient interest I'll supply a one-page template for contributions with a couple of examples. There's no need to write anything yet I just need a yeah or nay !

The ideas can be existing exercises that you know work well which you may have presented or experienced. They can be experimental ideas that you might like to develop further - anything really that could provide a shared training resource or reference source for all on The Hub. If you prefer to write a short essay (500 words max) it could be about your thoughts on creativity, experiences at workshops etc. Whatever you are thinking about contributing please be mindful of copyright issues and identify references for any sources if the material is not your own (guidelines will be provided on this). Also please note there will be no profit from such an endeavour but if it turns into something that looks commercial let's donate it to the worthy work of 'Facilitators Without Borders'

So any takers ?

Best Wishes,

kevin

Fantastic idea, Kevin. I'm in!

If you put a template together, I will definitely fill it in. I know a lot of the people in the thinkx crowd will too, as well as those involved with Facilitators Without Borders. The result could be a sort of Tassajara Cookbook of thinking exercises. Love it!

Bring on the template!

Great idea, (yet another!) and I certainly will scratch my head for you on this one. I may have to sign in with several pseudonyms since you are restricting us to only one submission per Hubber.

Hello Kevin,

I say, 'yeah!'

Thanks very much to all for an encouraging start.
I've attached a template for describing exercises. Any other contributions: short essays, words of wisdom, stories, poems, visual literacy etc that clearly describe a personal view on Creativity or a learning experience in a training session etc most welcome. There's no fixed format for these other contributions except that they should aim to be something that others could benefit from - and of course just of one A4 page per contribution please. The final version will be much prettier than the template, so who knows ? - this may turn into a great gift for someone.

Hopefully it will snowball to include as many Hubbites as possible.

Best Wishes,

Kevin

I'm not a 'trainer' but rather one who has been 'overtrained' and am all through that sort of stuff. University 1st day tutorials usually begin with name, degree and something else. On occasionally do we get something really interesting in the something else.
I'm sure though I could contribute something useful in the proposed e-book....i.e. on ??? I now need to have coffee and think about this!! :-)

Hi Cathy,

Many thanks - I think the subject of 'Over-training' would be very interesting for a written contribution and the perspective on any aspect of training from the attendees' point of view is vital - I look forward to your contribution.

Best Wishes,

Kevin

Hi Kevin and many thanks for the idea..

I have previously organized a similar project where a number of members wrote a story together (each submitted a paragraph or two).. the final project was a beautiful story.. we're still looking for illustrators.

one tip I would like to share is to provide a timeline with deadlines. that way everyone is aware of what is happening when. and you taking the lead on it will make things easier to tie all loose ends. make sure to have different types of contributions, editing, illustration and design, etc. believe me everyone will want it more if it looks as great as the way it was gathered.

I'm in.
cheers.

Hi Randah,

Many thanks for your kind advice. I will shortly provide some examples and hopefully contributions will begin to appear. In terms of written contributions maybe Hubbites who have already written something that was well received on the Hub would care to edit, precis, texture the piece and add it to The Hubbuck as a stand alone contribution. I'm looking at a timescale of a few months to receive all contributions and to have the project completed by late summer.

Here are some themes for the written contributions (~500 words) + images:

Creativity in Education
Creativity versus Innovation
Creativity & Self-Development
Creativity @ Work
The Ideal facilitator
Creativity in Science, Arts etc
How to get the best out of a Creativity workshop, conference etc
Tips for designing exercises
etc

Cheers,

kevin
