Hi Blanka, A quick search for "impact of digital design tools on the creativity in graphic design" has yielded, among other things, this: ro.uow.edu.au/cgi/viewcontent.cgi?article=1021&context=etc08 It's about character creation in cartoon design,…

Location:
Paris/Pondicherry/Providence
About Me:
Artist, designer, former senior reporter on French public television, I currently divide my time between teaching at the American University in Paris, creating an NGO near Pondicherry in South India, and spending summers in Providence, Rhode Island. If you think that this is quite a stretch, you should bear in mind that we are flexible and that our world is essentially elastic. Besides, although they are on three different continents, these locations really have a lot in common. They are also where our three children live.

Salut/hello dear Franca, Tim, Hal and Peter! What a great family gathering this is. Are we sitting in a circle and passing marshmallows around? Long time no read or see indeed.

We're going to be in Providence, July 20 through August 29 and, yes, we'd love to hop over to Northampton and meet you, Hal. We have friends in Hadley and Amherst, and we're bound to visit them.

Here's what the NGO we're creating in the international eco-village of Auroville, Tamil Nadu, South India, is all about.

You've heard of Hollywood, and even Bollywood...
Now comes Pondywood.
It is very different.

Pondywood gets its name from proximity to Pondicherry, on the Gulf of Bengal, in the South of India, where we have already spent 10 weeks this Spring, and where we will be for 5 months again, starting in September.

The project combines mobile screens and mobile study-work experiences, information technologies and concrete action for sustainable development.

I'll post mor edetailed info here asap.
In a nutshell:

Pondywood is a non-profit experimental research center and design studio devoted to small screen mobile video production.

Based in the international community and eco-village of Auroville, Tamil Nadu, South India. Pondywood branches out on the Internet, offering many online ressources on technologies and sustainable development.

Pondywood’s productions are designed for cellphones, iPods, PDAs, laptops and other mobile devices.

Pondywood produces fiction and non-fiction video adapted to small screens and network distribution : educational clips, mini-series, animation, documentaries on social and environmental issues, local and global.

Pondywood is also a platform connecting academic work to concrete action in the developing world.

First (playful) glimpse.

More next time.

Bonjour, Laurent! How nice to touch bases again with you since those days Brainlining with Peter.
When will you be in Providence? Northampton Massachusetts isn't far, even considering our elastic world.

Laurent! Good to see you. It's been a while. Franca and I often speak fondly of our visit. Tell us about your NGO.
