Hi Rich, I love this! We also use UP as one of the most powerful tools in Productive Thinking. When examining ideas — particularly ideas that seem odd or crazy or not PC — we ask What's UP? What's the Underlying Principle? to discover if there is...

Here's a car with a very different kind of zip. Check out this amazing video!

This is one of the coolest examples of tenkaizen pattern-busting I've seen in a long time. It's about a BMW concept car with a body made of cloth instead of metal.

I have to admit that my very first reaction to that idea was an instant gator-like "Yeah, right..."

Then, after a moment watching the video, I thought, "Wow. What took so long?"

...but the fruit of the poor lemon is impossible to eat. (oh, yeah?)

We often talk about turning things upside down and inside out in order to stimulate new thinking. Here's a link to a short video from the New York Times that shows an unusual way to do that. (This should be of interest to our sensory scientist member, Clare Dus.) Click to view in a new window.

Another terrific talk by Sir Ken Robinson on the need for creativity in education.

The whole talk is of interest, but the part that starts at about 12 minutes is crucial. Sir Ken speaks of recognizing that creativity can be taught, reconnecting our notions of intelligence and creativity, and training people in the skills required to generate many good ideas. Very much worth watching.

    Hi Tim,

I couldn't log on with my last e-mail address any more as I have now left Leicester Uni and am working free-lance for them and other Unis. I worked there full-time for 18 months developing new resources on Creative Skills for Research. This is now complete and to be published soon, so I'm back to free-lancing but am now engaged in a new resource: Creative Skills for Enterprise.

I also did some private research whilst at the University on the workplace and nothing much has changed since I left full time employment six years ago. I shall be reporting on this because I made some observations that don't square with creativity being the solution to the world of work. So I shall continue to enjoy being iconoclastic... Cheers,

    Kevin

Thanks Tim. Appreciate the opportunity you provided to launch the conversation about creativity professionals - who they are, what they do, what they deliver against, what they promise. Looking forward to sharing thoughts and insights regarding our values, beliefs, ethics and competencies so that clients can be assured of what they are getting when they hire creativity professionals to work with them.

Further, great clarification work being done on the difference between creative professionals and creativity professionals.

Started http://creativityprofessional.blogspot.com/ to share the thinking.

Tim, Mindcamp was incredible this year. Dancing with you was a real highlight. Not to lessen it, there were also so many others. I agree with Leah that September is my new year and a time for reflection. I might make Mindcamp my personal Rosh Hashana! thanks. Sharon

Tim, What a beautiful spot for MindCamp. I will continue to imagine the winds growing colder and the leaves on the great maples turning golden and crimson before they are released.

A request-can you post everyone's email address. I did not receive a copy of contact info. Thanks-
