Blind Pedestrians Say Quiet Hybrids Pose Safety Threat

Some advocates for the blind want to require manufacturers of hybrids to set minimum sound standards for new cars and trucks, arguing that blind pedestrians can't hear them.

I couldn't agree more. Silent cars are dangerous, not only for people who can't see but for cyclists and all pedestrians, especially children.

But making quiet cars make noise is nuts. There has to be a better solution. Maye we can help.

I'm starting to collect ideas online. I work with the INclusion Network, who might be able to put some of our ideas in front of the right people.

Feel free to leave your ideas here. I'll post them for you or you can post them yourself at the Quiet Car BrainlineXpress.

Thanks!
